Zeiss will showcase additions to its cataract, corneal refractive, and retinal portfolios during the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) Congress, scheduled for September 11-14, 2026, in London.
The company said its presentations will span IOLs, cataract surgical systems and planning, laser vision correction, and screening and diagnostic technologies.
Cataract workflow additions
Among the cataract technologies on display will be the Zeiss AT Lucia toric 721P IOL, a hydrophobic monofocal toric lens designed to address cataracts and astigmatism. According to the company, the IOL incorporates its patented Zeiss Optic nonconstant asphericity profile.
Zeiss plans to hold an event September 12 from 10:00–11:00 AM BST at Booth C.100 featuring surgeons who were among the first to implant the lens worldwide. The company will also recognize several surgeons with its Pioneer Award for early implantations.
The company will also showcase the Dorc Eva Nexus ophthalmic surgical system in a cataract-only configuration. The system includes a cataract grade selection feature with as many as 4 programmable presets, allowing surgeons to select phacoemulsification, aspiration, and irrigation settings for individual surgical steps and cataract grades. Settings can be activated using the footswitch or screen.
Another focus will be the newly available Zeiss Surgery Planner, a cloud-based digital planning platform for cataract surgery. Used with Zeiss Data Analyzer, the platform is designed to connect a practice's electronic medical record system with the operating room while supporting IOL calculations, collaboration among clinical staff, and data analysis.
Zeiss said the platform builds on its experience with Veracity Surgery Planner, which has been used to plan more than 3 million cases in the United States. Zeiss Surgery Planner is expected to become available in fall 2026 in select markets, including Australia, Brazil, Germany, and Spain.
“With Zeiss Surgery Planner, we are advancing cataract surgery planning from manual coordination to a connected, cloud-based and data-driven workflow, helping practices reduce complexity while giving surgeons more time to focus on patient care,” Frank Seitzinger, head of Business Sector Surgery Anterior Segment at Zeiss Medical Technology, said in the announcement.
To address the rapid development of advanced IOL technologies, Zeiss will host a group of industry-leading surgeons on September 13, from 3:00 – 4:00 PM BST to discuss the use of different IOLs based on their clinical and personal experiences. Participating surgeons include Dr. Javier Coloma from Clínica Baviera (Spain), Prof. Haike Guo from Shanghai Heping Eye Hospital (China), Dr. Mfazo Hove from Blue Fin Vision (UK), Dr. Jiwon Jeong from Fatima Eye Clinic (South Korea), Dr. James Myerscough from Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (UK), and Dr. Jascha Wendelstein from The Institute for Refractive and Ophthalmic Surgery (Switzerland).
Zeiss will also host its Cataract Surgery Symposium on September 13, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM BST. The event will highlight “Converting astigmatism complexity into predictable outcomes with digital cataract surgery” and feature key insights from some of the industry’s leading surgeons.
Corneal refractive workflow updates
For refractive surgery, Zeiss will present a software update for the VisuMax 800 femtosecond laser. In CE-marked markets, the update includes a new option for arcuate incisions as well as CentraLign Auto centration.
According to Zeiss, the arcuate incision capability expands the platform's laser vision correction applications. CentraLign Auto is an assistant system that automates lateral movement of the device to support eye centration before docking and facilitate the docking process.
The company also plans to showcase consultation tools and educational resources intended to help refractive practices identify and counsel candidates for laser vision correction.

Screening and diagnostic technologies previewed
Zeiss will also preview technologies under development for its screening and diagnostics portfolio.
One is a retinal diagnostic offering intended to complement the Cirrus OCT portfolio and support multimodal retinal imaging. The company said the technology is being developed to simplify imaging workflows and facilitate routine retinal imaging across clinical settings.
A second offering involves virtual reality-based perimetry designed to complement Humphrey Field Analyzer visual field testing. According to Zeiss, the technology is intended to support detection of visual field defects as part of comprehensive glaucoma diagnostics.
The company plans to reveal additional details about the future screening and diagnostic offerings during an event September 11.
