Bausch + Lomb will present new scientific data evaluating its IOL, glaucoma, refractive surgery, and ocular surface technologies during the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) annual congress, scheduled for September 11-15, 2026, in London.

The company's scientific program will include studies of the LuxLife, enVista Aspire, and enVista Envy IOLs, as well as the Elios procedure for glaucoma. Additional presentations will examine refractive surgery and dry eye technologies. Register here for demonstrations.

Other research will evaluate full-range-of-vision IOLs, including the effect of residual refractive error on visual acuity and clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction following implantation.

Poster presentations will further examine enhanced monofocal, full-range-of-vision, toric, and other IOL designs. Among the studies are investigations of enVista Aspire, including clinical performance and visual outcomes with the monofocal-plus IOL, as well as real-world analyses of enhanced monofocal lenses.

The company will also participate in an independent medical education symposium September 13 addressing simultaneous-vision IOLs and functional vision. During the program, Belén Alfonso Bartolozzi, MD, is scheduled to present a case involving the enVista Envy IOL.

Elios glaucoma data include follow-up to 5 years

Multiple presentations will focus on excimer laser trabeculostomy and the Elios procedure for lowering IOP in patients with glaucoma.

Podium research includes an evaluation of the effectiveness of excimer laser trabeculostomy through 18 months of follow-up and another study examining the procedure in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma undergoing cataract surgery.

Longer-term findings will also be presented. Two studies will report 5-year outcomes following combined excimer laser trabeculostomy and phacoemulsification, including changes in visual field and peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness and real-world IOP reduction.

Additional research will assess safety when excimer laser trabeculostomy is performed with cataract surgery in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma.

A poster will report 1-month real-world safety and effectiveness outcomes for excimer laser trabeculostomy combined with cataract surgery in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

The company will further highlight the technology during a September 12 satellite symposium on its integrated surgical portfolio. The program will include discussion of the Elios procedure alongside technologies including SeeLuma intraoperative OCT and the LuxSmart and enVista Envy IOLs.

Refractive surgery and dry eye research planned

Bausch + Lomb's ESCRS program will also include refractive surgery research. One podium presentation will examine acuity, wavefront, stereopsis, and patient satisfaction outcomes following Supracor transepithelial phototherapeutic keratectomy in patients with myopic presbyopia.

A separate poster will report long-term findings from a study comparing transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy with conventional photorefractive keratectomy.

Ocular surface research will include a presentation addressing dry eye management before and after refractive surgery. Posters will examine clinical outcomes and practitioner satisfaction with Artelac lubricating eye drops, an ectoine-containing ophthalmic solution for dry eye disease, and real-world utilization and outcomes associated with 2 types of lubricating drops.

Beyond its scientific program, Bausch + Lomb will sponsor several events during ESCRS, including Glaucoma Day, the Excimer Laser Celebration, and iNovation Day. CEO Brent Saunders is scheduled to participate in a medical technology leadership panel as well as the Ophthalmology Futures Forum leaders panel.

Yehia Hashad, MD, executive vice president of research and development and chief medical officer at Bausch + Lomb, will participate in a discussion focused on interventional glaucoma in cataract practices.

The company will also host educational programs covering its surgical technologies and participate in an artificial intelligence-focused session addressing applications intended to support ophthalmic practices.
