VirtuaLens has launched a Monovision Simulation feature for its immersive virtual reality IOL patient education system, allowing surgeons to demonstrate the visual effects of monovision during cataract consultations. According to the company, the platform also enables patients to experience other lens strategies, including monofocal, toric, extended depth of focus, and multifocal options.
The company said the new feature is designed to help patients better understand how monovision may function before surgery by delivering independent visual inputs to each eye in a virtual reality environment. VirtuaLens said this allows surgeons to illustrate the balance between distance and near vision as patients view real-world scenarios such as reading, driving, and using digital devices.
VirtuaLens described the feature as a way to improve patient education, increase confidence in lens decisions, and enhance the consultation experience. The company said the Monovision Simulation feature is now available on all VirtuaLens systems.
