Zeiss Medical Technology announced the commercial availability of its CT Lucia 621P monofocal IOL in Japan, expanding the company's cataract surgery portfolio in the Japanese market.
The CT Lucia 621P incorporates the proprietary Zeiss Optic Asphericity Concept, designed to account for the natural misalignment between the corneal center and the eye's optical axis. According to the company, this optical design is intended to support consistent visual outcomes across a range of patient profiles.
The lens also features a reinforced optic-haptic junction and step-vaulted C-loop haptics, designed to facilitate centration and maximize direct capsular contact. These structural features are intended to enhance IOL stability and maintain consistent positioning within the capsular bag.
The commercial introduction adds another monofocal IOL option for cataract surgeons in Japan, with design features focused on optical performance, lens centration, and postoperative positional stability.
The IOL will be showcased at the 80th Annual Congress of Japan Clinical Ophthalmology (JCO), scheduled for October 29 to November 1, 2026, in Kyoto, Japan. Additional information about the CT Lucia 621P and its availability in Japan is available through Zeiss Medical Technology.
