Rayner’s digital health division, Innoptix, announced that more than 5,000 patients have been enrolled on Eyejourney, its AI-powered ophthalmic patient education platform, 6 months after its commercial launch.

According to the company, Eyejourney has now been adopted across clinics in the United Kingdom and international markets. The milestone comes alongside clinical data presented at DOC 2026 suggesting use of the platform may reduce consultation and chair time by up to 40%.1

Eyejourney is designed to support patients and clinical teams throughout the ophthalmic surgical pathway. The platform incorporates preoperative and postoperative education, electronic consent, eye drop compliance tracking and patient engagement through app push notifications, SMS and email.

Innoptix said the platform was developed with input from a clinical advisory board, patient-centered research and ophthalmic specialist developer Wolfson Research.

“Our Innoptix team is breaking new ground, and it's exciting to see the impact in action,” Tim Clover, CEO of Rayner, said in a statement. “Passing 5,000 patients within 6 months, with real clinical data behind it, tells us we're solving a genuine problem, not adding technology for its own sake.”

One feature of Eyejourney allows surgeons to create personalized video messages using digital avatars, enabling patients to revisit instructions after leaving the clinic. Clinical teams can also use a central dashboard to capture electronic consent, monitor patients’ engagement with educational materials, and track adherence to prescribed eye drops.

The potential impact on clinical workflow was highlighted in research presented by Tabitha Neuhann, MD, at DOC 2026 in Nuremberg, Germany, in June. The presentation examined an AI-integrated digital pathway intended to improve ophthalmic patient education and reduce perioperative anxiety.

“When patients understand what's happening, through the structured education videos and drop compliance tracker, they arrive better prepared and need less reassurance in the room,” Dr. Neuhann, a vision correction surgeon at Ophthalmologikum Dr. Neuhann, said in a statement.

She added that reducing the need for additional reassurance can free up chair time for clinicians to focus on patient care.

Innoptix said it plans to expand Eyejourney’s AI capabilities across the surgical and postoperative pathway as development of the platform continues.

The company will demonstrate Eyejourney at Rayner’s booth during the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) 2026 meeting, scheduled for September 11-14 in London.
