CooperVision said it is continuing its investment in the future of optometry through its Student Contact Lens and Myopia Leadership Society, a yearlong professional development program aimed at preparing students for clinical practice and leadership roles. As part of the initiative, the company recently hosted its 2026 Summit at its global headquarters in Victor, New York.

The Summit served as an extension of the broader program, bringing together select optometry students from across the United States and Canada for hands-on learning and professional development. Participants engaged in interactive workshops focused on toric, multifocal, and myopia management contact lenses, with an emphasis on building fitting confidence and applying evidence-based care. Small-group rotations encouraged collaboration, discussion, and real-world clinical problem-solving.

Students also had the opportunity to tour CooperVision’s manufacturing and distribution facilities in the Rochester area, gaining firsthand insight into the production and global delivery of made-to-order contact lenses.

Beyond clinical training, the Summit emphasized professional growth. Sessions covered topics such as wellness, communication, leadership pathways, and career development. Panel discussions and networking events allowed students to connect directly with CooperVision leaders and peers.

The Student Contact Lens and Myopia Leadership Society includes second- and third-year optometry students nominated by faculty to serve as ambassadors for one year. Members gain access to hands-on education, leadership development opportunities, and exposure to both clinical and industry perspectives throughout the academic year.
