SightGlass Vision announced the launch of a new global professional education campaign, “Control the Contrast,” aimed at increasing awareness among eye care professionals about the role of contrast management in controlling myopia progression.
The initiative focuses on the company’s DOT spectacle lenses, which are designed to slow the progression of myopia by modifying how light reaches the retina. According to clinical data, the lenses have demonstrated the ability to reduce average myopia progression by up to 75% after 12 months of wear across diverse patient populations.
The campaign comes amid growing concern over rising rates of myopia in children, a trend often linked to increased time spent indoors engaging in activities such as reading, studying, and screen use in artificial lighting environments. DOT lenses are engineered to replicate more natural visual conditions by incorporating thousands of microscopic elements that gently scatter light before it reaches the retina.
DOT lenses have already been introduced in several international markets, including Canada, China, Israel, Spain, and the United Kingdom. To date, more than 1.5 million children have worn the lenses globally, according to SightGlass Vision.
As part of the campaign, the company has launched an educational website—sightglassvision.com/controlthecontrast—offering resources for practitioners. The platform includes information on how environmental contrast levels may influence eye growth, along with downloadable materials related to DOT lens technology.
“More children are developing myopia at a younger age, making it even more crucial for eye care professionals to be aware of all the options at their disposal for early intervention,” said Andrew Sedgwick, CEO of SightGlass Vision. “By building awareness and understanding of the science behind contrast management and DOT lenses’ unique approach, we hope more eye care professionals will take action.”
