Key Takeaways
- Ziemer will highlight 4 innovations spanning cataract, refractive, and phakic IOL surgery at ESCRS 2026
- Femto Posterior Capsulotomy expands the Femto Z8 platform with an OCT-guided approach to creating a posterior capsulotomy
- Uniqa and the Epic Phakic Lens App Suite are designed to provide a more integrated workflow for phakic IOL planning and surgery
Ziemer is set to showcase several additions to its cataract, refractive, and therapeutic surgery portfolio at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) 2026 meeting, highlighting expanded applications of its femtosecond laser technology.
The company will feature 4 key innovations at Booth B.340: Femto Posterior Capsulotomy, Soft/Surface Clear, the Uniqa phakic lens, and the Epic Phakic Lens App Suite.
Femto Posterior Capsulotomy represents a new application for Ziemer’s Femto Z8 platform. According to the company, the technology uses intraoperative optical coherence tomography (OCT) to visualize the posterior capsule and guide creation of a circular posterior capsulotomy.
Ziemer will also introduce Soft/Surface Clear, which extends its Clear lenticule-based refractive surgery technology to the corneal surface. The approach is intended to broaden the potential applications of lenticule-based procedures in refractive surgery.
The company is also expanding its refractive portfolio with Uniqa, a phakic IOL manufactured in Switzerland. Ziemer said the system is designed to provide an integrated phakic IOL surgery workflow spanning preoperative planning, surgery, and postoperative assessment, with an emphasis on improving vault predictability and consistency of long-term outcomes.
Complementing the lens is Epic, Ziemer’s Phakic Lens App Suite. The software suite is designed to support precise and reproducible surgical steps using OCT guidance on the Femto Z8 platform.
Together, Uniqa and Epic reflect Ziemer’s effort to integrate phakic IOL planning and implantation more closely with its femtosecond laser ecosystem.
Attendees can view the technologies and meet with Ziemer’s clinical experts at Booth B.340 during ESCRS 2026.
