Centre for Sight announced that its Founder and Medical Director, Sheraz Daya, MD, FACP, FACS, FRCS(Ed), FRCOphth, has been awarded the IIRSI Gold Medal in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the field of ophthalmology.
The award was presented at the Indian Intraocular Implant and Refractive Surgery (IIRSI) Convention in India, a global gathering of leading ophthalmologists who come together annually to share research, innovation and expertise in eye care.
The IIRSI Gold Medal is one of the organization’s highest honors, recognizing individuals who have made significant and lasting contributions to advancing ophthalmic science and surgical practice.
“It is a tremendous honour to receive the IIRSI Gold Medal from such a respected international society. To be recognised by peers and colleagues from around the world is both humbling and deeply meaningful," Dr. Daya said. "This award reflects not only my own journey, but the dedication of the entire Centre for Sight team and our shared commitment to advancing ophthalmic care, innovation and, most importantly, improving patients’ lives through better vision.”

Dr. Daya has performed more than 35,000 cataract procedures and a similar number of laser vision correction treatments. Widely regarded as a pioneer in laser eye surgery and corneal surgery, he has played a pivotal role in shaping modern refractive techniques both in the UK and internationally. Under his leadership, Centre for Sight became the UK’s longest-established provider of LASIK laser eye surgery and has been instrumental in introducing advanced laser technologies and refined surgical techniques designed to enhance safety, precision and patient outcomes.
