Prevent Blindness declared its sixth annual inflammatory eye disease (IED) week as October 19 to 25, 2026. In a study published last year in Ophthalmology, IEDs were found to account for 10% to 15% percent of legal blindness in the United States.1 Additionally, the working-age population is disproportionately affected.
To provide patients, care partners, and health care allies with educational resources on IEDs, Prevent Blindness offers a dedicated webpage, shareable social media graphics, downloadable fact sheets in English and Spanish, and multiple expert- and patient-testimonial videos. This year, Prevent Blindness recognizes Keenova Therapeutics as its gold sponsor for IED week. New this year, Prevent Blindness has created the educational video, “Uveitis: A Closer Look.” This resource includes easy-to-understand information on uveitis, including causes, symptoms, treatment options, and more.
