Oculis Holding AG announced upcoming presentations highlighting the neuroprotective potential of privosegtor and its ongoing PIONEER registrational program at the 6th Asia-Pacific Ophthalmic Innovation Society (APOIS) Congress and CNS Summit.

Privosegtor is an investigational peptoid small-molecule candidate designed to cross the blood-brain and retinal barriers and is being developed for optic neuritis and other optic neuropathies.

At the CNS Summit, Oculis will present findings from the phase 2 ACUITY trial, a multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-masked study evaluating privosegtor in patients with acute optic neuritis. According to the company, the trial demonstrated improvements in visual function, supported by preservation of retinal anatomy, including the ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer and retinal nerve fiber layer, as well as reductions in blood neurofilament levels.

Privosegtor has received Breakthrough Therapy designation from the FDA and Priority Medicines designation from the European Medicines Agency for optic neuritis, according to Oculis.

Oculis is advancing privosegtor through its PIONEER registrational program, which includes two trials in optic neuritis and one in nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy. PIONEER-1 is currently enrolling patients with acute-onset optic neuritis, including those with and without multiple sclerosis.

The company also anticipates clearance of an investigational new drug application for privosegtor in acute multiple sclerosis relapses in the fourth quarter of 2026.
