The 22nd ISS – International Scientific Symposium on Ophthalmic Imaging will take place on September 18-19, 2026, in Singapore, bringing together ophthalmologists, retina specialists and retinal surgeons from around the world for two days of scientific exchange and innovation.

Building on more than two decades of collaboration and knowledge-sharing, the symposium enters a new chapter under its updated name. Formerly known as the International Sprectralis Symposium, ISS reflects an expanded scientific scope and a continued focus on ophthalmic imaging as a key driver of clinical insight and technological advancement.

Held under the theme "Imaging that Inspires," ISS 2026 will feature a scientific program led by internationally renowned speakers. Sessions will explore a broad range of topics, including multimodal imaging in neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and geographic atrophy (GA), myopia imaging and management, multimodal imaging with high axial resolution OCT imaging, artificial intelligence in ophthalmology, and next-generation ocular imaging technologies.

The symposium will be jointly directed by Professor Tock Han Lim, Senior Consultant at the NHG Eye Institute, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and Professor Leopold Schmetterer, Scientific Director and Head of Ocular Imaging at the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI), Singapore National Eye Centre.

“Ophthalmic imaging has become a central pillar of both research and clinical practice,” said Professor Leopold Schmetterer. “ISS 2026 provides an excellent opportunity to discuss not only technological innovation, but also how imaging can truly empower clinicians by translating data into meaningful clinical insight.”

The symposium will be hosted at the Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa in Singapore, offering a dedicated setting designed to encourage focused scientific discussion as well as professional networking among international peers.
