EyeMed and the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation have expanded their collaboration with the launch of the EyeMed Cares Disaster Relief Replacement Program, a coordinated initiative designed to help eligible EyeMed members replace vision care materials lost or damaged following a declared natural disaster.

The program provides eligible members with immediate access to a temporary disaster relief benefit that can be used within 90 days of a declared disaster to replace eyewear lost or damaged during the event. If needed, the benefit also covers a comprehensive eye examination at no cost through an EyeMed network provider.

According to the organizations, the initiative is intended to streamline access to replacement eyewear and vision care while reducing administrative burden for eye care providers serving patients affected by disasters.

"When a disaster strikes, the last thing our members should worry about is losing access to the vision care and eyewear they need," Matt MacDonald, president of EyeMed, said in a company announcement. "Through EyeMed Cares, we stand alongside our members and the providers who care for them, helping ensure support is available during times of unexpected hardship. By expanding our collaboration with the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, we're making it easier for our members to access essential vision care and eyewear when they need it most."

The organizations said the program is designed to remove financial and logistical barriers during disaster recovery by providing eligible members with timely access to replacement vision materials and eye care services. The coordinated approach also aims to support continuity of care while simplifying the process for participating providers.

The EyeMed Cares Disaster Relief Replacement Program builds on the ongoing collaboration between EyeMed and the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation to improve access to vision care for individuals facing unexpected hardships.
