Cure Blindness Project has released its 2025 Impact Report, detailing significant progress in expanding access to eye care and preventing avoidable blindness worldwide. The report highlights the organization’s continued efforts in patient care, medical training, and health system strengthening across underserved communities.
According to the report, Cure Blindness Project supported more than 315,000 sight-restoring surgeries in 2024, helping individuals regain vision and independence. The organization also reported that one out of every 11 cataract surgeries performed worldwide was completed through its programs and partnerships.
“It is always a true honor to announce our results. On behalf of our team and all our partners, we are excited and proud to share what we’ve accomplished together,” said K.T. Overbey, CEO of Cure Blindness Project. “Our 2025 Impact Report reflects what has been our most impactful year to date—one defined not just by numbers, but by lives transformed.”
The report emphasizes the organization’s broader strategy of building sustainable eye care systems in low-resource regions. Beyond surgical care, Cure Blindness Project continues to invest in training local clinicians, strengthening hospital infrastructure, and supporting community-based outreach programs designed to increase access to care.
Officials noted that these efforts have contributed to earlier diagnoses, expanded treatment services, and improved long-term outcomes for patients in areas where access to vision care remains limited. The annual report also showcases stories from patients and providers around the world, using photography and firsthand accounts to illustrate the impact of restored sight on individuals, families, and communities.
In addition to celebrating milestones in service delivery, the organization reaffirmed its commitment to creating lasting, locally led eye care systems. “We are strengthening entire systems so that quality eye care becomes a lasting reality in the communities we serve,” Ms. Overbey added.
The 2025 Annual Report includes financial information as well as recognition of donors, volunteers, and partners who contributed to the organization’s mission over the past year.
