Astellas has launched a new national patient campaign for Izervay (avacincaptad pegol intravitreal solution), unveiling its latest commercial, "Slow Rider 2.0: The Next Wave," across television, print and digital platforms.
The campaign is designed to deepen patient understanding of geographic atrophy (GA) and connect the science behind Izervay with patients staying engaged in everyday moments and experiences. Slow Rider 2.0: The Next Wave builds on the company’s original Slow Rider commercial, carrying forward familiar colors and visual cues to create continuity for viewers. The updated spot expands the storytelling approach by featuring a patient living with GA alongside a caregiver and grandson, underscoring the real-life, multigenerational impact of the disease. By focusing on everyday family interactions and shared experiences, the campaign highlights the emotional toll of progressive vision loss while reinforcing the importance of preserving sight to maintain independence and connection.
The commercial also features retina specialist Arshad Khanani, MD, who previously appeared in Astellas’ "Partners in Protection" physician-focused campaign. His inclusion is intended to bridge patient education with clinical expertise, reinforcing the role of retina specialists in diagnosing and managing GA.
