The American Academy of Optometry has announced the 2026 Myopia Summit, a 1-day educational program aimed at delivering practical, evidence-based strategies for modern myopia management. The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 2026, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Organized by the Academy’s Myopia Management Special Interest Group, the summit will offer 6.5 hours of COPE-accredited continuing education, focusing on the evolving science and clinical application of myopia control. The program will feature four in-depth sessions led by Academy Fellows Erin Tomiyama, OD, PhD, FAAO, and Ashley Wallace-Tucker, OD, FAAO, guiding attendees from foundational concepts to real-world clinical implementation.
Participants will explore key aspects of myopia management, including the global rise in myopia and the importance of early intervention. The sessions will also examine current evidence-based treatment approaches, emerging research, and practical strategies for integrating myopia control into everyday clinical practice. Attendees will gain insights into patient communication and learn how to successfully develop and implement a myopia management program within their practices.
“Myopia management is advancing at a breathtaking pace, and this summit is your chance to stay at the forefront,” said Academy President Jeffrey Walline, OD, PhD, FAAO. “Join us to deepen your expertise, sharpen your clinical impact, and leave with evidence-driven strategies you can put into practice the very next day. Our presenters are exceptional clinician-scientists who translate the latest research into clear, actionable guidance, empowering you to deliver the highest level of care to your young, myopic patients.”
In addition to educational sessions, the summit will provide opportunities for networking and engagement with industry partners. Attendees will also have access to included meals and a closing reception. A list of participating companies is expected to be released online in the coming weeks.
Registration is currently open, with fees set at $299 for Academy members and $399 for nonmembers. Additional details, including program information and registration, are available at aaopt.org/myopia.
