Surgil?m announced the recipients of the first "Surgil?m Award of Excellence" to Jithin Yohannan, MD, of the Wilmer Eye Institute; Albert S. Hazan, MD, of Columbia University Medical Center; and Alicia Menezes, MD, of The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai.
These residents were chosen to receive this award by the programs involved in Surgil?m's Residency Initiative, which was launched in 2016. The RoboMarker corneal marking system was introduced into these ophthalmology programs to help residents gain confidence in the treatment of astigmatism during surgery. This award by Surgil?m honors graduating residents who demonstrate an aptitude for excellent surgical skills, a compassion for patients, and leadership qualities that can positively impact the future of ophthalmology. Award winners will receive a RoboMarker for their use.
