OD-OS announced the release of a major update for Navilas 577s. The update, which is provided free-of-charge to all Navilas 577s users, accelerates the speed at which laser spots are delivered. As a result, treatment times for both the newly introduced preplanned peripheral treatment option (pp-PRP) and navigated microsecond pulsed treatments are markedly reduced. In addition to making treatments faster, the update also improves laser uptake evaluation and the overall user experience.

“After the very successful launch of Navilas 577s last October and its rapidly growing adoption, the Navilas technology is well on its way to replace conventional slit-lamp based pattern lasers”, Navilas Product Manager Wolfgang Kern said in a company news release. “Recent improvements also make navigated laser the easiest-to-perform retinal laser procedure, especially for novice users. By allowing physicians to pre-plan the treatment, rather than wasting time on pattern positioning, we give them the ability to invest more time into better patient care.”

“We continuously collect feedback and suggestions from our valued customers. This feedback is directly incorporated into every update to improve our user’s day-to-day clinical experience.  Additionally, an update for our Navilas 577+ system is scheduled to be released within the quarter," Mr. Kern said.

Navilas 577s enables physicians to digitally pre-plan the entire laser therapy on fundus images as well as on third-party diagnostic images, and to precisely execute this therapy plan under computer guidance. Unlike any other retina laser, Navilas offers focal treatments without a contact lens and infrared illumination for unsurpassed patient comfort. A large field of view and assisted pattern positioning greatly improve speed in panretinal and focal treatments.
