Oculus Optikgeraete GmbH has announced that it’s entity, Oculus Surgical, has acquired Insight Instruments. The acquisition includes all manufacturing of Insight, which will strengthen Oculus’s manufacturing expertise and capabilities that will drive future growth in the surgical, diagnostic, optometric arena, according to a company news release.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We feel that the addition of the Insight Instruments product line will enhance the ever growing portfolio that Oculus has introduced to retina surgeons, beginning with the original SDI/BIOM in1985," Christian Kirchhuebel, CEO, Oculus Optikgeraete GmbH, Germany, said in the news release.
“As both organizations are well-known and respected in the ophthalmic community, this acquisition will enhance the overall customer experience among ophthalmic surgeons, our distributors, and key industry partners around the world," Ron Gilliland, CEO, Oculus Surgical, said in the news release. "It will further allow us to work closely with these partners to improve surgical outcomes by ever enhancing our portfolio of surgical products, led by the BIOM product line, and explore developing future key technologies.”
