Novartis announced that it is implementing the following to ensure optometrists are well-equipped to provide care for patients during the COVID-19 pandemic:
- Strengthening the online, self-service sample website – www.novartisportal.com – which allows all registered U.S.-based eyecare professionals to log in and request eligible samples and literature items such as copay cards. Additionally, live representatives are available to answer any questions on the products offered.
- Providing patients easier access to telemedicine/telehealth services, including virtual eye consultations provided by an independent provider. For example, in the coming weeks, those experiencing dry eye disease symptoms will be able to request a virtual appointment with an eye care professional on Xiidra.com. Additionally, eye care professionals who are unable to care for existing patients at this time may direct them to Xiidra.com for further assistance.
- Encouraging those who are facing financial hardship (or who have limited or no prescription coverage) to connect with the Novartis Patient Assistance Foundation, Inc., a non-profit entity within Novartis that supports access to prescribed Novartis medications. - Converting the entire field team to a virtual support platform which enables Novartis to continue partnering with optometrists by providing access to digital tools that are needed to serve patients
