Katena Products announced the acquisition of Sensor Medical Technologies, a developer of single-use and reusable diagnostic and therapeutic lenses for the eye care market.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“The acquisition of Sensor Medical Technologies is an important addition to Katena’s product portfolio. Sensor Medical Technologies’ disposable and reusable lenses represent an improvement to current clinical practice as it relates to consistently better optics, while eliminating the chance of disease transmission,” Bill Friedberg, CEO of Denville, New Jersey-based Katena Products, said in a company news release. “We enthusiastically welcome the Sensor Medical Technologies team to Katena and look forward to working together to grow the business.”
Katena Products is the largest independently owned American company dedicated exclusively to ophthalmic surgical instrumentation, according to company literature. Katena offers its products to more than 7,000 customers in the United States and, through a global network of distributors, to customers in more than 100 countries around the world.
“We are excited to see Katena and Sensor Medical Technologies come together, enabling Sensor Medical Technologies to accelerate growth through Katena’s worldwide sales and marketing channels,” Greg Heacock, founder and CEO of Sensor Medical Technologies, said in the news release. “This is the perfect marriage of high-quality instruments and optics, and the combination will provide doctors with a broad range of solutions for their patient procedures.”
