Bausch + Lomb announced the launch of expanded parameters for Biotrue ONEday for Astigmatism daily disposable contact lenses. The expansion extends the full power range to +4.00D to -9.00D, in three cylinder powers of -0.75, -1.25 and -1.75, and additional parameters in a -2.25 cylinder. With this extended range, eye care professionals will have the opportunity to offer more astigmatic patients the convenience of a daily disposable contact lens that provides continued comfort1 and moisture retention.2

“While there is a significant number of astigmatic patients in the US, many are not fitted in a toric lens as they believe there are limited options available to address their unique vision needs,” John Ferris, general manager, U.S. Vision Care, Bausch + Lomb, said in a company news release. “We believe that the parameter expansion of Biotrue ONEday for Astigmatism will allow eye care professionals to fit more of these patients with a convenient, comfortable daily disposable lens option.”

Similar to the other products in the Biotrue ONEday brand family, Biotrue ONEday for Astigmatism starts and ends the day with more moisture than any other contact lens, according to Bausch + Lomb. It has a patented dehydration barrier, that allows the lens to maintain nearly 100% of its moisture for a full 16 hours.2 In addition, Biotrue ONEday for Astigmatism contact lenses offer an evolved peri-ballast design, featuring a tapered edge to limit lid interaction, and spherical aberration control to help reduce halos and glare, particularly in low light conditions.

“In the past, I’ve had difficulty offering my patients a daily disposable lens that fits within their busy lifestyles but combines the visual clarity and comfort that they’re looking for,” said Mile Brujic, OD, Premier Vision Group, Bowling Green, OH. “With the expansion of additional parameters for
Biotrue ONEday for Astigmatism lenses, I look forward to providing more of my astigmatic patients with a lens that delivers on these needs to address their unique visual demands.”
