American Vision Partners Acquires Miles Eye Center

Private Equity-backed American Vision Partners announced a partnership between one of its affiliates, Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center, and Miles Eye Center.

Under the name of Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center, patients at Miles Eye Center will continue to receive the excellent care they are accustomed to, according to a news release. Additionally, patients will have access to advanced cataract technology, retina diagnosis and surgical care, cornea, glaucoma and other ophthalmic subspecialties.

Bohannon, President & CEO of American Vision Partners, the parent company of Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center, said in the news release. “As the most respected ophthalmology group in the country, we’re committed to growing American Vision Partners in a thoughtful way that allows us to partner with other successful eye care practices to best serve our patients. We are currently in discussions with other eye care centers throughout Arizona and other regions.”

Patients will benefit due to the leading-edge technology that comes as part of the American Vision Partners alliance. Electronic medical records, virtual patient education, access to an online patient portal for managing appointments, and secure messaging to doctors are just a few of the advancements the partnership brings to the Show Low and Lakeside areas.

“This partnership presents an opportunity to bring together the ophthalmology leaders in the White Mountains and to provide our community with best-in-class eye care,” said Dr. William Miles, of Miles Eye Center.Dr. Joshua Lewis and Dr. Joseph Brewer, who currently practice at Miles Eye Center, will continue to provide care at Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center. 

Dr. John Knippers, a Board Certified eye physician and surgeon with a history of professional excellence and a specialization in cataract and glaucoma surgery, joins the Show Low team of doctors. Additionally, Jack Sipperley, MD, and Mahmood El Gasim, MD, will provide retina and vitreous retina services.
